Japan-Philippines Law Conference 2024 on Cross-Border Inheritance Practice between Japan and the Philippines
This is a joint seminar with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines that has been held every year since 2017, and this time it will be held in Tokyo on cross-border inheritance cases.
Last year, we held a seminar on inheritance for the first time, and it received a great response from practitioners in both Japan and the Philippines. The background is that the number of cases involving international inheritance issues is increasing as the parties to international marriages between Japanese and Filipino nationals, which became prominent in the 1980s, are now aging.
This time, the University of the Philippines College of Law will co-organize the seminar and introduce Philippine inheritance law and procedure. We hope to address cross-border inheritance issues that frequently arise in practice and explore solutions together.
It is becoming increasingly important to work with local legal experts to address the complex and diverse legal issues between Japan and the Philippines. We hope that this will be an opportunity for you to deepen your understanding of the legal issues between Japan and the Philippines.
