International symposium: Prospects of the Future of Criminal Justice - Can criminal justice systems coexist with death penalty and attacks on lawyers?
For criminal justice to be sustainable, the rule of law must be promoted and equal access to justice must be assured for all (SDGs 16.3). However, today's criminal justice faces several challenges to achieve such goals. For one, attorneys who are expected to promote and enhance the rule of law are still confronted by violence, intimidation, and harassment because of their work as lawyers. Second, the death penalty remains and continues to be executed in several major countries.
This international symposium will bring together domestic and international experts to debate these two challenging issues and present a vision of what criminal justice should look like in order to achieve sustainable criminal justice. We are looking forward to your participation.
