2018 ESG Seminar Series II Conversations with lawyers from the International Bar Association (IBA) and former Japanese general counsel“Global trends of Business & Human Rights and the role of lawyers and in-house counsel in Japan”
With the support of the IBA, the JFBA will host an international seminar on business and human rights as a part of the JFBAʼs ESG seminar series.
In this seminar, Ms. Paniagua, who leads the IBA project “Business and Human Rights for the Legal Profession”, will provide an overview of the IBAʼs Bar Association Guidance, Practical Guide, Handbook, and Training Programme as well as the background of the project. In addition, Mr. DʼAmbrosio, a practicing solicitor and a member of the IBA Business and Human Rights Advisory Group, will present on emerging global legal risks and trends related business and human rights and what this means for external counsel. Moreover, Ms. Mimura, one of the pioneers of in-house counsel with a rich experience as general counsel in Japan, will discuss the importance of business and human rights issues for the legal and compliance departments of Japanese companies.
Following these key note speeches will be a panel discussion to exchange views on how lawyers and in-house counsel in Japan can effectively practice on business and human rights.
We welcome all lawyers engaging with business law and/or human rights advocacy, including in-house counsel and foreign attorneys.
