Guidance for Gaikokuho-Jimu-Bengoshi Re: New regulations on ABS & Office Name of Geikokuho-Jimu-Bengoshi
From April 1, 2018, a Gaikokuho-Jimu-Bengoshi(“GJB”) will not be allowed to belong to a law firm in a foreign jurisdiction that constitutes a certain type of alternative business structure (“ABS”). Under the new regulations, the procedures for a newly registered GJB will change, and a GJB who belongs to a law firm in a foreign jurisdiction will be required to submit additional documents regarding registration. We will hold a seminar to explain the required procedures under the relevant new regulations.
At the seminar, we will also explain the relevant regulations regarding the office name of a GJB. We will conduct the seminar in Japanese, and prepare English translations of the amended rules and explanatory materials.
A casual gathering with food and wine is scheduled after the seminar. We hope that many of you enjoy the opportunity to get acquainted with the relevant JFBA committee members.
