The Japan Federation of Bar Associations compiled the “Letter of Request Seeking the Abolition of the Death Penalty System” and submitted it to Mr. Yoshihisa Furukawa, the Minister of Justice, on December 2, 2021.
Main Points of Request
1. Enacting legislation to abolish the death penalty system
2. Placing a moratorium on executions until the death penalty system is abolished
