Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Guideline 2009
March 18, 2010
Japan Federation of Bar Associations
Recently, the term “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)” has become well known by companies. However, its concrete and detailed contents were not clear. The Japan Federation of Bar Associations (JFBA) has published a CSR guideline with the intention to develop a new practice field for attorneys in assisting companies aiming to establish CSR and assessing their achievements.
This CSR guideline, the first comprehensive guideline written by attorneys, covers eight areas: 1. General Explanation, 2. Compliance and Internal Control, 3. Environment, 4. Employment and Labor, 5. Human Rights, 6. Fair Business Practices, 7. Social Development and Contributions to Local Communities, and 8. Consumers.
This 2009 guideline is a partial revision of the “CSR Guideline 2007” which was released in March 2008 and will be revised as necessary in the future.
