Following the meeting held in April 2005, in Tokyo, executives of the All China Lawyers Association (ACLA), the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), and the Japan Federation of Bar Associations (JFBA) gathered in Nanjing and held the Three-Bar Meeting from July 9 to 10, 2006, hosted by the ACLA.
The topics discussed in the meeting were "legal reform and development of legal profession" and "training of lawyers". About 50 lawyers in Nanjing also participated in the meeting and listened intently to the reports of three bars. In the afternoon session attended by only three bars' executives, each bar reported its activities followed by free discussions. Mr. Myoga, the JFBA Secretary General, representing the JFBA, reported on the JFBA activities in Chinese.
Currently, the ACLA and JFBA are discussing for entering into a memorandum of understanding, and this Three-Bar Meeting was an invaluable opportunity to strengthen friendship between executives of both bars.
The CCBE presented the detailed report on the reform of regulations governing lawyers in Europe.
