| The
presence of the Japan Federal Bar Association's legal technical
assistance in
international society has been increasing lately, and other
developed countries and
organizations have been very active in this field as well.
Such organizations usually provide legal
technical assistance based on their background, legal structure,
and the system in the assisted countries, and there frequently
occur conflicts and problems arising from institutional differences
between Common Law and Civil Law. Thus, competition or coordination
with other organizations has become one of the most important
themes in such practice.
The Japan Federal Bar Association, on this
occasion, supported by the German Federal Bar and the Section
of International Law of the American Bar Association, both of
which are actively involved in legal technical assistance, is
holding a seminar to discuss and elaborate on such issues from
the perspectives of both Common Law and Civil law, as well as
those of practitioners and academics. The participation of the
President of the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia
is also scheduled to provide us with a viewpoint from the assisted
countries.
